Basic Needs
Providing Security
In addition to our focus on Education, Income and Health United Way of McLean County is investing in Basic Needs. Working with our community, we will help individuals and families become more self-sufficient in meeting their basic needs. We help to stabilize people in crisis with emergency food, safe shelter and housing services. We recognize that the outcomes for programs focused on basic needs must be addressed through a coordinated system of resources, so that individuals and families can be provided opportunities to achieve their highest potential.
Outcome 1: Food – individuals and families have food security.
Outcome 3: Safety – individuals are safe in their living arrangements.
Based on input from key stakeholders in our community, United Way has chosen to focus on these key outcomes as the best chance for getting individuals and families on track to be self-sufficient. These outcomes and identified best practices are used to evaluate the effectiveness of direct service programs and community impact initiatives funded under the Basic Needs area.
